The Attacca Quartet
Join us Sunday, July 12 at 5 PM for our first Watch Hill Chapel concert of the summer, featuring The Attacca Quartet a dynamic, two-time Grammy-winning American string quartet based in New York, celebrated for its versatility and innovative spirit.
Formed in 2003 at the Juilliard School by violinist Amy Schroeder and cellist Andrew Yee, the ensemble has evolved into one of today’s most forward-thinking chamber groups. Current members include violinist Domenic Salerni and violist Nathan Schram (since around 2020). They gained early acclaim with competition victories, including Osaka and Coleman prizes, and have performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall, and major festivals worldwide.
Strengths lie in their ability to bridge traditional classical repertoire with contemporary, electronica, and cross-genre collaborations (notably with Caroline Shaw on the Grammy-winning albums Orange and Evergreen). Known for exuberant, nuanced playing and cohesive yet individual voices, they champion new music while delivering fresh interpretations of classics. Their adventurous programming and outreach make them a true quartet for modern times.
